I've listened to hip hop since the early 90's when I was a kid in Vancouver. When I reached university the political messages in the music resonated, and now I'm researching the politics and power of female rap lyrics as applied feminism.
Skeelo, LL cool J (Mr. Smith) and Fugees were my favourite as girl , Talib Kweli and jay-z etc. in high school, early outkast, mos def, de la soul, public enemy, tribe, slick rick, the roots, Nas, Biggie, mf doom, jurassic, latyrx, digable planets, etc. in my late teens & early twenties. ...

This blog is part of my directed study on hip hop feminism. The sources I'm using includes books, films, music, music videos, youtube, blogs, listed somewhere below.
